After our successful production of Macbeth, we’re thrilled to bring Shakespeare back to the Rep—with Macbeth director Tim Hackney at the helm of Twelfth Night.
After a shipwreck separates Viola from her twin brother, she disguises herself as a young man and finds herself caught in a dizzying triangle of desire: a Duke who loves a woman who loves Viola’s disguise, while Viola secretly falls for the Duke. Add a lovesick bachelor, a household full of schemers, a very ambitious fool, and a whole lot of music—and you have Shakespeare’s riotous romantic comedy Twelfth Night.
Seacoast Rep’s Twelfth Night will bring Shakespeare’s beloved comedy to life with original music, physical comedy, and plenty of theatrical mischief. It’s a joyful, funny, deeply human celebration of love, identity, and the glorious mess of trying to figure out who we really are.
It’s romantic. It’s ridiculous. It’s heartfelt. And ultimately, it’s a story about who we are when we stop pretending to be who we think we are supposed to be.
