Carnaval del Mundo is a unique experience in puppet theater. It’s a World Carnival of music, dance and magic. In a parade of characters to delight viewers of all ages, the marionettes move from the highly decorated stage right out into the audience. Accompanied by beautiful, creative music these performances have traveled the globe. The stage itself becomes a puppet, moving and expanding as the pageant of highly articulated, wooden carved and painted marionettes reminiscent of traditional European masters, builds to a crescendo of action, light, and sound. This is the Butterworth Marionettes award winning signature product: Prepare to be amazed.
‘Popular Marionette artist Dan Butterworth presents a lively tribute to cultures around the world featuring his exquisitely carved marionettes.’

We are pleased to announce that our award winning Red Light series will be presenting Midsummer Night Queens: The RU-TURN this August 16th, 23rd, and 30th at 7:30PM. Each very special evening will feature a full drag revue starring regional drag queens, and headlined by a bevy of contestants from Logo television’s most notorious reality tv show, Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
“After last year’s overwhelming, and SOLD OUT success, it was a no-brainer to bring back the series…” says Knate Higgins, special series curator and host of the event (as Bunny Wonderland). “We wanted to make sure that we brought the best, the brightest and the most audacious drag queens available for this year’s run. The people have spoken, and we have answered…with heels on!” This round, promises to bring lots of unexpected surprises, and even a few extra special guests…
Ru Paul’s Drag Race is an award winning reality television series that pits 12 of the nation’s best drag performers up against each other in a battle of wits, talent and nerve. Each performer has a chance to showcase their individual style of drag, and each week contestants are eliminated based on their performance in each week’s challenges. Only one drag performer can reign supreme! Hosted by the infamous drag star herself, Ru Paul, the series just finished its 6th and most watched season. Select contestants will be performing in an all new drag revue as part of Seacoast Rep’s Red Light series this August 2014.
August 16th kicks off with season 2’s 2nd runner up, Jujubee. Exotic, high fashioned, and downright hilarious Jujubee is a surefire way to kick off the series. August 23rd brings the return of one of last year’s crowd favorite performers, Joslyn Fox. And finally, August 30th brings Season 6 Miss Congeniality, the camp-comedy queen sensation, BenDeLaCreme. In addition to the headliners, each night will feature regional drag queens from NH, Portland, ME and Boston, MA. Midsummer Night Queens is hosted by Portsmouth’s own Queen of The “B’s”, Bunny Wonderland.
All shows are $25 per person, but a special limited edition $60 VIP “Untucked” Pass is available for purchase. The VIP pass grants each patron access to all three evenings, priority seating, and to the after party hosted by Seacoast Rep.
