drivingmissdaisylogotnsmjpgThe funny, touching, irresistable story about a working relationship that became a 25-year Friendship. Driving Miss Daisy as performed by the award-winning company of Seacoast Repertory Theatre opens this January across the Seacoast’s most acclaimed stage.

Directed by Danielle Howard, the woman responsible for Seacoast Rep hits Little Women, South Pacific, and Titanic, and starring Odell Curetan and Katie Miller, Driving Miss Daisy tells the story of the relationship between a strong-willed, well-to-do Jewish woman and her black chauffeur over 25 years in post-war Atlanta, Georgia. The relationship begins rocky as the two test each other’s boundaries and confront each-other’s inherent prejudices, but an unlikely friendship blossoms as the two become each other’s closest friends and confidantes.

Driving Miss Daisy opened Off-Broadway in 1987, and won the Pulitzer prize for Drama in 1988. It closed after 1195 performances, only to be revived on Broadway in 2010 starring James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave. Now the hit comes to the Seacoast Rep for the first time on our intimate three-quarter-thrust stage in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
