What: Casting for Sweeney Todd

 

Currently Seeking:

Johanna Barker - (Soprano, character age: 18 to 20’s) An alluring, beautiful young but simple woman. Todd's daughter, but claimed by Judge Turpin as his own ward.  Falls in love with Anthony and seeks refuge through him.  Comic timing a plus.

 

Beggar Woman / Lucy Barker - (Soprano, character age: 35 to 50) A mad crone with a filthy tongue whose interjections go unheeded.  Not right in the head.  She is eventually revealed to be Lucy Barker, the wife of Sweeney Todd.  Broken by life, we learn that she has descended in health and soundness of mind as a result of having her life destroyed by the Judge. She dimly remembers her life as Lucy, but has been thoroughly transformed by her poverty, her mistreatment, and her hopelessness.

 

Ensemble - Gravediggers, Bird Seller, Customers, Policemen, townsfolk, lunatics.  Also Jonas Fogg,  seen briefly in the second act as the keeper in charge of the lunatic asylum at Bedlam. All vocal types and age ranges welcome.

 

-Please prepare two (2) 16 bar pieces, one up tempo and one ballad. Make sure your music is clearly marked and in a hard-backed binder. An accompanist will be provided for you. (if singing from the show, please bring your own music)

-Please provide a hard copy of your headshot and resume
