 AUDITIONS for Reefer Madness & Rocky Horror Show, LIVE!

Seacoast Repertory Theatre

WHEN: Monday & Tuesday, February 8 & 9, 2016 @ 6:00-10:00pm 

WHERE: Seacoast Repertory Theatre, 125 Bow St., Portsmouth, NH 

CALLBACKS: Wednesday, February 10, 2016 @ 6:00-10:00pm 

 

18+ only. Please note that this will be a shared cast between both shows. 

Please bring a headshot and resume and arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition appointment time.

Please present two contrasting musical theatre selections in the style of 

the score of about 16 bars each that showcase your upper register and mix 

belt. At least one of your songs should show strong comedic character work, as well. Bring sheet music in your correct key, professionally presented in a binder. 

 

REHEARSALS: Reefer Madness begins May 23rd; Rocky Horror Show begins July 5th; Weekday evenings and weekend days.

PRODUCTION DATES: Reefer Madness June 23 – July 24; Rocky Horror Show July 15 – 23 (Friday and Saturday @ midnight)

Seeking:

Jimmy Harper - A wholesome, innocent, high school teenager who runs into trouble after he is lured into the dangerous world of reefer. 

 

Lecturer, – A severe authority figure who warns the audience of the perils of Reefer Madness. (Doubles as Irish Priest, Jimmy's Mother, Old Man, Radio Announcer, Ticket-Taker, Policeman, FDR) 

 

Mary Lane – Jimmy's sweetheart, a naive, virginal teenage girl.

 

Jack Stone – The handsome and ruthless proprietor of the Reefer Den, a 30's gangster movie-type. 

 

Mae – An attractive, yet slightly haggard dame past her prime, the hostess of the Reefer Den.

 

Ralph Wiley – A denizen of the Reefer Den, formally a fraternity man, his college days ended long ago due to his reefer habit. (Doubles as Sally's baby, Jimmy's Father, Switch Puller, Uncle Sam)

 

Sally – A sexy and seductive resident of the Reefer Den, she possesses the libidinous soul of Mae West combined with the rat-a-tat moxie of vintage Barbara Stanwyck. (Doubles as Lady Liberty)

 

Placard Girl – Throughout the play she reinforces the warnings of the Lecturer by holding large signs that clearly state the moral of what we've just seen. (Doubles as Five-and-Dime Kid, Police Officer)

 

Goat Man/Jesus – A very horny satyr/a lounge singing Jesus. A Hunk.

 

Mr.(or Mrs.) Poppy – A soda jerk at The Old Five-and-Dime.

 

Ensemble – Mixed gender group to represent Reefer Zombies, Kids at the Five and Dime, Orgy Dancers, Angels, and patriotic background chorus in the star-spangled finale.  



Auditions are open to AEA and Non-AEA actors.

Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. 

Video submissions will be accepted until February 8, however in-person auditions are highly recommended.

Auditions for Teen Stage Ensemble!

Teen Stage Ensemble (TSE) is an audition-based program designed to strengthen skills in the performing arts. Students will meet twice to three times a week to gain a broad education in auditioning, scene work, dance, musical theatre, and overall performance. Guest instructors will be teaching master classes once a month. Students will focus on body work, vocal technique, and character development.

In the 2nd semester, students will build on their 1st semester monologue and scene work as they delve into a play specially chosen for the ensemble's strengths. Students will also be performing in a Cabaret event alongside our Mainstage performers! 

Semester 2 - Tuesdays & Thursdays

6-8pm | 10 weeks | March 1 - May 19

(Skips weeks of April 25 and May 2nd)

*Students do not have to have completed first semester to advance to 2nd semester

Culminates in 4 Performances- Dates TBD

Tuition: $500 per semester

Ages 12-18 may audition
