Seacoast Repertory Theatre is a community gathering place, a resource where our community comes together to share entertainment and stories; it is a place for reflection on life, and a place for celebrating the essence and hope of humanity.
Seacoast Repertory Theatre announces the creation of ARTREP, an innovative fundraising collaboration with artist Marshall Carbee. Art collectors can purchase an original Carbee work and directly support The Rep: 50% of the proceeds from each purchase will go directly to The Rep as a tax-deductible donation. The partnership culminates in a showing of Carbee's paintings at two locations in Market Square, Portsmouth. The public is invited to attend the reception for this showing on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Rudi's, 20 High Street in Portsmouth and at Zev Yoga, 16 Market Square in Portsmouth.

Carbee will produce the one-night special exhibition with the help of local businesses and members of the arts community. Two preview locations are set up in cooperation with Zev Yoga: at their 16 Market Square studio in Portsmouth and at their 175 Water Street studio in Exeter. Please call Marshall Carbee at (603) 834-2158 to make an appointment to preview the artwork.
Carbee says, "It's an exciting project and a true honor to be an artist-in-residence at The Rep this season!" The Rep’s producing artistic director Craig Faulkner adds, “We’re thrilled that Marshall has chosen to support The Rep in this way … everyone benefits. I especially appreciate the ‘green’ aspect of Marshall’s work. We’re working to move in a similar direction at The Rep. Aligning ourselves with an eco-conscious artist makes perfect sense.” To learn more about Carbee’s ‘green’ approach visit his website at www.marshallcarbee.com or go to YouTube.com and watch the new Marshall Carbee video.
Carbee, a New Hampshire artist, is one of only a handful of green artists working today. He has been working with the rich and vibrant natural colors of the western United States for nearly a year, but recently returned home to enjoy a few months on the NH seacoast. In 2008, he created the first bio-based, sustainable gesso (Carbee Soy Gesso) and collaborated with Eco Safety Products to develop the first bio-based industrial scenic coatings. Carbee promotes green production in all the arts - in motion picture production, museums and schools. He works with environmental nonprofit organizations, contributing his own art to raise money for these causes.
